They are related and different. I am interested in things which are interesting. Interested is a verb form and interesting is an adjective.

I think they may be two adjectives.

Another way to think about it is to remember that you are _____ + ed (adjective),
while the agent (thing or person causing you to be ____+ed)  is _____ + ing (also an adjective).

I am interested in foreign movies.

I find foreign movies very interesting. 

You can apply the same approach to bored and boring.

That movie was so boring. I've never been so bored in my life!

or annoyed and annoying

My brother was so annoyed with me. He said "Why do you have to sing so loud? You are so annoying!"

Remember not to say you are boring or annoying :)
