Asking for Someone’s Opinion:

• Was halten Sie von …? – What do you think of ...?
• Was denken Sie über ....? – What do you think about ...?
• Wie ist Ihre Meinung über ...? – What is your opinion on ...?
• Wie ist Ihre Ansicht über ...? – What is your view on ...?
• Wie finden Sie ...? – What do you think of ...?
• Sind Sie der Meinung, dass ...? – Are you of the opinion of ...?
• Sind Sie der Ansicht, dass ...? – Are you of the view that ...?

 

 

Expressing agreement:

• Ich stimme dir zu. – I agree with you.
• Du hast (vollig) recht. – You’re (completely) right.
• Ich bin einverstanden. – I agree.
• Das stimmt. – That’s right.
• Ich bin der gleichen Meinung. – I agree (Literally: I am of the same opinion)

 

Expressing disagreement:

• Das kann sein, aber… – That might be so, but…
• Ich widerspreche, weil… – I disagree, because…
• Ich bin dagegen. – I'm against it.
• Ich bezweifle, dass… – I doubt that…
• Das ist einfach nicht so. – That is simply not so.
• Das ist nicht wahr. – That is not true.
• Auf keinen Fall. – Absolutely not.
• Du hast keine Ahnung. – You have no idea.

 

Expressing indifference:

• Das ist mir egal. – It's all the same to me/I don't care.
• Es ist mir völlig gleichgültig. – I don't care at all.
• Das macht mir nichts aus. – It doesn't matter to me.
• Macht nichts. – Doesn't matter.
• Das ist mir wurscht. – I couldn't care less.
• Ich habe nichts dagegen. – I have nothing against it.
• Meinetwegen … – As far as I'm concerned ...
• Von mir aus … - As far as I'm concerned ... 

 

Not Taking a Stance:

• Ich bin da geteilter Meinung. – My opinion is divided.
• Es kommt darauf an. – It depends.
• Das ist mir egal. – It doesn't matter to me.
• Ich habe dazu nicht viel zu sagen. – I don't have much to say about that.
• Ich habe nichts dagegen. – I've got nothing against it.
