It is about the life of five friends, that live in New York, focusing on their love life, work and of course their favorite free time activity: sitting in their favorite bar. You get to know many modern American expressions and can enjoy a lot of slang that makes the show even more entertaining.

 

5. Dexter

By day, mild-mannered Dexter is a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. But at night, he is a serial killer who only targets other murderers.

 

6. House M.D.

An antisocial maverick doctor who specializes in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way using his crack team of doctors and his wits.

 

7. Desperate Housewives

Secrets and truths unfold through the lives of female friends in one suburban neighborhood, after the mysterious suicide of a neighbor.

 

8. The Big Bang Theory

A woman who moves into an apartment across the hall from two brilliant but socially awkward physicists shows them how little they know about life outside of the laboratory. For English learners this is perfect, there are lots of different American accents to hear and study as well as an Indian accent.

 

9. Once Upon a Time

A young woman with a troubled past is drawn to a small town in Maine where fairy tales are to be believed. The language is simple and easy to understand, all you have to do is enjoy the stories.

 

10. Modern Family

Modern Family is a hilarious show that makes a commentary on how the traditional American family has completely changed, and it shows what could perhaps  be considered “typical” nowadays. The show gives a good insight into American culture and how family life there has changed so much.
