From Wikipedia:

Lumineers (styled LUMINEERS) are dental veneers made of a unique porcelain known as Cerinate by Den-Mat Holdings, LLC that allows the patient to easily remove the veneers due to the lack of modification required to the tooth to apply the veneer. Although some etching does occur in the procedure, there is no local anesthesia required in the procedure to apply Lumineers, due to lack of shaving required in other dental veneer procedures. The Lumineers name also applies to crowns known as Lumineers 360 Full Coverage Crowns that use the same Cerinate porcelain and thin design to create minimally invasive crowns.

The word lumineers has to be a form of the word luminary which means shining star.  It has to be a form of the original word that is not conjugated. Luminaries are the plural form of the word.  Lumineers come from the word Luminary and to me, it means a person who shines like a star or group of people that shine together. It does sound funny. I tried looking for the definition and I couldn't find any neither.

I agree with the person who gave the above and first definition. When I first heard of the name, I immediately thought of the veneers which mean covers and is the name for dental coverage for teeth.

In slang, it means like in one of their songs a person who repeats a phrase over and over again like a fake or poser rock star according to the meaning to the lyrics in the song. hahaha
