Can I use the adjective "Beautiful" or "Pretty" to describe a man in american english?

Hi Lenilson,

I have been watching many Hollywood movies and when they refer to a man, they use just 'handsome'. Instead, when they refer to a woman, they use pretty.

So I would say that it is more common to use 'handsome' when describing a man and 'pretty' when describing a woman.

Forgot to add this from the dictionary:

'a pretty boy or young man is attractive in a way that is more typical of a girl or woman.'

I think this may help you get a better idea.

A woman may describe a Man as being 'Beautiful'... but never a man describing a man... unless the men are Gay!
