I wanna know: I have a good vocabulary, all of days I'm studying english, (self-taught) and I pulled out a lot of advantages from this site. What is lacking for me, is fluency. What is the easiest way to improve my fluency, to learn speak symptomatically as I speak my native language, the portuguese? Thanks so much....

The easiest and the best way to improve your fluency is to communicate a lot. If you live in an English-speaking country, pay attention to the English conversations around you. If not, you can use this facebook application to contact people - https://apps.facebook.com/speak-in/

  1. Select the language you want to learn and your native language.
  2. Click on "Select Levels/Topics", and choose what you want.
  3. Click on "Learn Together", and start speaking.
  4. Also you can click on "Language Exchange" to communicate with native speakers.

It's easy! Good luck!

Listen carefully. Videos, songs, podcasts (great one), read a lot too. I would recommend fiction books, they hold your attention and you will be also improving your writing.

I agree that you must speak to English speaking people as much as it is possible; don't miss any opportunity! But, I don't like the idea of using speak-in or some internet chatting unless you find a native speaker. The thing is that English is the lingua franca, and that's why everybody uses it on the Internet, but, the level of English is terrible in most cases... It wouldn't help you at all.

Have you tried chatting on facebook?

You need to find people who are more fluent than yourself to talk with. Listen carefully to native speakers (but remember that they aren't always right!) Read a lot from reliably edited literature, such as books and major newspapers and magazines. Pay attention to how things are phrased and practice saying them then changing them by substituting different nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

you can watch English movies and listen carefully on how the words are said. Practice, practice, practice .. also don't forget to have confidence! Try to listen to English songs too.
