Outta nowhere is slang or normal expression? how to use it

I would say that "outta nowhere" is slang. It's used when something is suprising.

"That ball came from outta nowhere and hit me in the head" = "I was surprised when that ball hit me in the head"

Outta=out of Eg: Get outta here!

out of nowhere - means suddenly just appears u cannot see from where - and also sg sudden in general
