At 0:48 of this funny song, the lyrics say, "Watch your back, before it fades to black."
Video:

I want translate the song, but I'm not so sure about this part.

Does "it" refer to the bad guy's "back" and "fade to black" mean he will "die"?

Fade to black refers to the lights going down and out (fading) at the end of a scene, or at the end of show. This can also be applied to television. So the meaning is, Be careful (watch your back), before "things" are over for you / before you're over and done with (it fades to black). Be careful before you become irrelevant.
