I just have read this  in  tod ays news paper. It has encountered me  two or three times. Would you plz tell me its mean..... n   one more thing  if you can help me in improving english vocab  then plz  help me.. i am  from  India....

In comedy is used to name the pause you make to create a big dramatic effect in your speech, or in your performance if you're acting. But in a newspaper... I think it could also refer to something of deep importance, but I'm just guessing with this one.

It just means an awkward pause in a conversation.

A pause which is full of meaning. But you have to work out the meaning, and develop the meaning inside yourself.
