What does 'being' mean and how can i use?

"being" can be used as a noun or aa a vb; examples: Earth is populated by human beings. - noun Being only 12 at that time, I wasn't really sure of what it meant. - vb ing form of "to be".

BEING is just a gerund form of to be. :)
